«PLATINA» — a concept for a transforming women’s accessory. The item’s form is inspired by the geometry and monumentality of a pediment. The monochromatic palette, rigid tectonics, and heavy metallic hardware reflect the aesthetic of industrial brutalism.
The bag serves as local merchandise, visual support, and a display of the PLΔTINA brand, which references the industrial heritage of the Urals region. The bag’s form alludes to the delta letter featured in the brand name. The project’s goal is to provide the user with a stylish and convenient accessory for self-expression. The accessory’s concept is rooted in the manifesto of Ural Brutalism and a reinterpretation of industrial aesthetics for a young, edgy urban audience. The bag is designed as a piece of conceptual merch that rejects classical forms and conventional «banana bags.» It is made for the self-expression of individuals (ages 16–35) who are unafraid to look avant-garde and value functional utility in a grunge style. The design incorporates a triple cultural and historical code of the region, connecting its geology, architecture, and industry.

The geometry of the bag is based on the silhouette of the Greek letter $\Delta$ (delta). This symbol directly references the unique spelling of the brand name «PLΔTINA» and is integrated into the triangular lines of the flap closure. The rigid, flared silhouette of the piece conveys monumentality. The pyramidal shape translates the power of utilitarian engineering structures, transforming the bag into an art object of the industrial landscape.
Color Palette
For the model, a monochromatic white color was chosen, which serves as a direct visual reference to the noble metal platinum and supports the brand identity. This concise color palette accentuates the rigorous tectonics of the piece, bringing its complex geometry into sharp focus.
Unlike colored materials, pure white allows for a clearer examination of the form’s architectural features, the sharp edges of the folding clasp, and the nuances of the construction. The cool undertone of the base creates a pronounced contrast with the metallic sheen of the chrome chains, intensifying the accessory’s industrial character. Later, the model may be released in other shades from the «PLATINA» project’s signature palette while retaining the overall design.

Transformation for the Urban Rhythm. The attachment system allows for instant format changes: a sling for active movement, a crossbody for strolling, or a compact handheld bag for evening settings. The ability to detach chains of various gauges or add external functional pouches symbolizes the flexibility of modern adaptable spaces, ready to cater to the needs of city dwellers.

The bag features a rigid, pyramidal silhouette with sharp, geometric facets, embodying a monumental industrial aesthetic. The main visual focal point on the front panel is an asymmetrical triangular flap—echoing the geometry of the delta letter—which is dramatically accented by a cascade of three heavy-gauge metal chains.

The bag is crafted from natural cowhide leather treated with chrome tanning. This material boasts high tensile strength, optimal density, and durability, allowing the piece to maintain a rigid pyramidal shape and preserve the sharpness of its cut edges even with wear. The natural texture of the cowhide harmoniously complements the brutalist grunge aesthetic.
The hardware incorporates a substantial solid metal decoration with a chrome finish: a cascade of three accent chains of varying gauges, half-rings for securing to the body, carabiners for quick strap transformation, and reliable magnetic snaps/latches for securing the asymmetrical delta-shaped valve.

The bag’s construction features a monolithic base with complex geometry that transforms into a rigid, volumetric cross-body backpack. The model is assembled using side clasps (handle holders) secured with bolts and rivets. The top and bottom sections of the body are fitted with lugs secured by rivets and split rings, designed for attaching a cascade of functional straps and enabling quick changes in carrying configurations. The bag closes with an asymmetrical triangular flap (delta-form) secured by a hidden lock. A substantial arched handle is provided for carrying the item by hand.

Orthogonal Projections
The design for the «PLATINUM» accessory structure was executed using planar modeling followed by a 1:1 physical mock-up. Creating the mock-up allowed us to test the ergonomics, internal volume, and rigidity of the facets. Based on the prototype, precise production patterns were developed, accounting for material thickness and seam allowances. The core of the structure is a flat pattern development of a complex geometric shape, where the back panel, bottom, front panel, and asymmetric flap (delta shape) are unified into a single component.
