There’s no running away from fear. All you can do is meet him, realizing that fear is worse than fear — his complete absence.

After being ambushed by the slaughter, Akosh runs from the battlefield. At the limit of horror, he falls into his own soul and sees that it is inhabited by demons.

At an hour of despair for Akosh is Turul, a spirit conductor. He’s not offering him a deal, but a way. He agrees, because Turul is his own unbroken honor. Listening to Turula, he listens to the best part of himself.
The forest is a metaphor that reflects the inner world of Akosha. The bones of the warriors are a reminder of all those who have escaped from the battlefield before him and whose soul has never found rest.
Like Akos, they’re stuck in guilt and fear. It’s his possible fate, too.
