The interior design of the Marble Palace clashes with its «true nature.» No matter how «warm» the palace appears from the inside, it remains a lifeless block of ice, unsuitable for habitation. The palace’s interior luxury cannot break through the cold shell. The marble, like a block of ice, becomes a «prison» for gold and molded decoration.
