A year ago, I had a dream where some music was playing—it sounded like an indie-pop song dominated by a stringed instrument, similar to a guitar. Many musicians have had similar experiences; for instance, the well-known Paul McCartney heard the melody of «Yesterday» in a dream. However, since I’m completely new to music, the only thing I have left from the recordings is a strange schematic.

One might surmise that the four horizontal lines represent four strings, the circles are notes, the numbers are beats, and the wave is an additional sound.Regardless, the diagram offers no clear vision of the composition, but if one follows it, what results in the end might hold a certain degree of truth. It was decided to create three interpretations of the melody, each with a different playing style.

For the main game, the banjo was chosen as the string instrument most closely matching the desired sound. The background consists of a composition of sounds, also drawn from the banjo, not only through standard plucking but also through various techniques: from striking the strings with sticks to using a bow.

The backgrounds were pre-made in the software, and the banjo playing was recorded on a microphone and routed through a mixer to the speakers for additional «dreamy» reverb effects.
Ultimately, the track presents as a game: the first 30 seconds follow a set scheme, and afterward, it becomes improvisation because the scheme breaks off.
String selection—from top to bottom (twice the first, thrice the fourth)
Sound—glissando
Style—playing open strings
String selection — from bottom to top (twice the fourth string, thrice the first)
Sound — sliding
Style — playing on fretted strings
String choice—by pitch (twice the lower note, three times the upper note)
Sound—gliding
Style—striking the strings
Such compositions can be created as long as the imagination lasts. The interpretation of the scheme depends on the individual and the stringed instrument chosen.
The cover and project title were also successfully exported from the same dream.
